Jugaad Privacy Notice
Version web-2026-11a. In effect from 2 November 2026. Jugaad is a service of Litehouse DeepTech Private Limited, 912, 1st Floor, DBS House, Marzban Road, Fort, Mumbai 400001, India.
What changed in this version. The company is now named in full as Litehouse DeepTech Private Limited. The family circle has its own switch. New trackers: bill dates, staff salary, gas cylinder refills, an udhaar list and weekly medicine. An optional app lock. The Privacy tab now lists every sign-in, every reminder handed to the reminder service and every family share. Download my data can leave out mail extracts and medicine. A clearer rule for anyone under 18.
In short. Jugaad reads your own Gmail and Google Calendar on your phone or computer, finds bills, renewals, deadlines, replies you owe, meetings and possible scams, and reminds you. What Jugaad reads stays on your device. Litehouse does not receive it, store it, sell it, or use it for advertising or to train any AI model. To use Jugaad for the first time you confirm your mobile number by sending one WhatsApp message from your phone (or, where that is not possible, with a code on WhatsApp); Litehouse keeps that number, encrypted, and a record of the Terms and Privacy versions you accepted, and nothing else about you.
1. What Jugaad reads, and why
| Source | What is read | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail (read-only) | Sender, subject and the short preview Google provides, for mail from the last 30 days. Promotions are skipped. Attachments and full message bodies are never read. | Find bills, renewals, deadlines, possible scams and replies you owe. |
| Google Calendar (read-only) | Title, time and description of events on your main calendar for the next 14 days. | Remind you before meetings. |
| Your Google account address | The address of each account you connect. | To show which account an item came from. |
Each source has its own switch. Nothing is read until you switch it on. You choose which Google accounts to connect, and you can connect more than one. Every reminder shows the exact words in your mail it came from, and Jugaad checks those words are really there before it shows anything.
2. Your mobile number and what Litehouse keeps
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your mobile number, encrypted, and the date you confirmed it | To confirm a real person is using Jugaad for the first time, and to stop misuse | Until you tap "Remove my number" |
| Which Terms and Privacy versions you accepted, when, and in which language | Proof of your consent, as the DPDP Act expects | While your number is kept, and 1 year after you remove it, stored only against a scrambled form of the number |
| A record of the device you confirmed on (a random code, not your phone's details) | So you are not asked to sign in every time | Until you remove your number |
| The sign-in reference you send on WhatsApp (8 letters and digits), and the number that sent it, encrypted | To link your WhatsApp message to the device you are signing in on | The number is cleared from it as soon as sign-in completes; the reference is deleted within 1 day |
| The one-time code, scrambled, if you sign in with a code instead | To check the code you type | Deleted when used, and within 1 day in any case |
| If you arrived from an invite link: one added to the count for that link's code | So the person who shared the link can see how many people started Jugaad from it | Counts not added to for 1 year are deleted. Litehouse does not record who invited whom |
| If you arrived from a Litehouse advertisement link: one added to that link's count for the day | So Litehouse can tell which advertisements bring people to Jugaad, without tracking anyone | 2 years. The count carries nothing about you; Litehouse does not record who arrived from which link |
| A scrambled form of your internet address, with a count of requests | To stop people flooding the code service | 1 day |
Your sign-in message, or the code, goes through WhatsApp, so Meta handles your number. A sign-in message reaches Litehouse's verification service through Litehouse's WhatsApp service, which passes it on and does not keep it. Litehouse never sees or keeps your mail, calendar, reminders or how you use Jugaad.
2A. Optional features you switch on yourself
- Smart check (AI on your device, test version). A small AI model looks at mails the rules did not flag. The model runs on your device; your mail is not sent anywhere. The model file (about 483 MB) is downloaded once from Hugging Face, which sees that your device downloaded it, as with any download. Every AI suggestion must quote words that are in your mail, or it is thrown away, and it is labelled "AI suggestion".
- Read aloud. Jugaad reads your reminders using a voice built into your device. If your device has no built-in voice for your language, Jugaad says so rather than using an online voice.
- Speak. When you tap Speak, Jugaad listens once for a short command such as "read" or "check". Speech is recognised on your device only; if your device cannot do that, the Speak button is not shown. No recording is kept or sent.
- WhatsApp reminders. If you turn them on, you link your WhatsApp number by sending one WhatsApp message. Litehouse's reminder service then keeps your WhatsApp number, the reminders your device has planned for the next days until each is sent (each is only a count, or a short title if you choose titles), a record of reminders sent (7 days), a log of events without content (1 year), and, if you send STOP, your number as opted out (1 year). A paired device unused for a year is removed. Send DELETE on WhatsApp to erase all of it. Titles are sent only if you choose, and never with amounts, numbers, links or health, money or identity words.
- Invite on WhatsApp. If you share an invite, the link carries a code made on your device. Litehouse cannot tell that the code is yours. When someone signs in to Jugaad for the first time from your link, Litehouse adds one to that code's count, which you can see in Jugaad. Who invited whom is never recorded.
- What Jugaad knows about me (memory on your device). To notice monthly patterns, Jugaad remembers on your device only: how many bills, renewals, deadlines and possible scams it found each month, and for each bill the sender's name, the date and the account, for 13 months. It shows all of this on the "What Jugaad knows about me" screen, with the patterns it has noticed (always marked as assumptions), the rules you made and the corrections you gave. You can change or delete any of it, or tap "Delete my memory" to delete it all. A pattern becomes a monthly reminder only if you tap "Remind me every month"; a rule only adds a reminder and never pays, books or sends anything. None of this leaves your device.
- Daily summary (optional). Off unless you switch it on. Once a day, at the time you choose, Jugaad shows what is due today, what is due this week and one reply you owe. If you also choose WhatsApp, your device gives Litehouse's reminder service, for each day with something due, only a count to send at that time, as with other WhatsApp reminders.
- Trackers (optional). You can keep simple records on your device: a maid's attendance, a milk or newspaper account, EMI, rent or tuition payments, a monthly bill date, staff salary with advances paid, gas cylinder refills, an udhaar list of money you lent or borrowed (with the names you type), or a medicine course, daily or weekly. You can describe one in a sentence; Jugaad reads it on your device with fixed rules, and you check the form before it is saved. If you paste text from another assistant, Jugaad reads it on your device, offers trackers for the lines it understands and does not keep the text; a medicine line is offered only if you ask to see it. Trackers never leave your device. The one exception is a payment or refill due date, which becomes an ordinary reminder and goes on WhatsApp only as your reminder setting allows. A medicine course and the udhaar list never become reminders and never leave your device.
- Family circle (optional). The family circle has its own switch, off unless you switch it on; nothing is sent to or received from the relay while it is off. Up to six adults in your household can share items each one chooses: bill dates, school and family dates, medicine times and a household list. The person who starts the circle approves each person before they see anything. Items are encrypted on your device with a key that only the phones in the circle have, so Litehouse cannot read them. Litehouse's relay keeps a random code for your phone and its public key, which circle it is in, the encrypted name you give when you join (until you are approved), and the encrypted items until every member has received them, and never more than 30 days. You can leave at any time; the person who started the circle can remove anyone or delete the circle, which deletes everything on the relay. A circle nobody uses for a year is deleted.
- App lock (optional). Off unless you switch it on. Jugaad then asks for your phone's fingerprint, face or screen lock each time it opens, and after 2 minutes away. Your phone makes and checks this on the device through the browser; nothing about it is sent to Litehouse. It stops someone who picks up your unlocked phone from opening Jugaad; it does not change how your information is encrypted. If you cannot unlock, the only way in is to delete everything Jugaad keeps on that device.
- Work view (optional). You can mark a Google account as a work account. Jugaad then shows briefs before work meetings and your work replies and deadlines, using only what it has already read on your device. You can erase all work data on its own. Nothing is sent.
- Schemes and money summary (optional). If you switch this on, Jugaad asks questions about your household (state, age, gender, family income, work, bank account, house, land, ration card and similar) to show government schemes you may be eligible for. It does not ask about caste, religion, health or disability. You can add photos of a bank statement, a bill or a rent agreement, a photo of your home, or a short video of your shop, taken with your camera or chosen from your files. Jugaad reads them on your device: text is read by a reader that runs on your device, and people in a shop video are counted, not recognised. Aadhaar, PAN and account numbers are hidden before anything is kept. Jugaad keeps only the numbers you confirm and the photos you choose to keep; videos are never kept, and videos are recorded without sound. Customers who appear in a shop video are counted on your device only. The results and the PDF report stay with you; Jugaad never sends them anywhere. Scheme details come from official sources checked on the date shown and may change; the official website of each scheme is final.
3. Where your information is kept
- On your device only, in your browser's storage, encrypted with a key that is created on your device and that no website or script can export. This protects your information from other websites and casual copying. It cannot protect it from someone who has full control of your unlocked device, so keep a screen lock on.
- Jugaad keeps only short extracts on your device (up to 300 characters per mail or event), not whole messages, and its memory as described in section 2A.
- The permission Google gives Jugaad is held in memory only while the Jugaad page is open, and is cancelled with Google when you close the page. It is never saved and is never sent to Litehouse.
- Requests for your mail and calendar go directly from your device to Google. They do not pass through any Litehouse server.
4. What leaves your device
- Requests to Google for your own mail and calendar, as described above.
- At first use, your sign-in message on WhatsApp (or your mobile number and the code you type), and your acceptance of the Terms and Privacy versions, go to Litehouse's verification service at jugaad.litehouseco.com, as described in section 2.
- If you tap "Add to Google Calendar", the reminder's title and time are sent to Google Calendar so that you can save the event in your own calendar.
- Jugaad downloads a small settings file from Litehouse (for example, a service notice). Nothing about you is sent with it.
- If you switch on Smart check, the AI model is downloaded from Hugging Face, as described in section 2A.
- If you switch on WhatsApp reminders, your device sends Litehouse's reminder service the next reminders it has planned, each only a count or a short title you allowed, so they arrive on time even when Jugaad is closed.
- If you share an invite or look at how many people started from it, your device sends the invite code, and nothing else, to Litehouse.
- If you join a family circle, the items you choose to share, encrypted on your device so that Litehouse cannot read them, as described in section 2A.
- Nothing else. Jugaad has no advertising, no analytics and no crash reporting in this version. The Privacy tab in Jugaad lists, under "What left this phone", each sign-in, each time reminders were handed to the reminder service, each family share and each request to Google, with the date.
- If you use Schemes, Jugaad downloads the scheme list, and the first time you read a photo or count people, a reader (about 8 MB) or a counter (about 19 MB), all from Jugaad's own website. Nothing about you is sent with these downloads.
5. Google user data
Jugaad's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to show you your own reminders. It is not transferred to anyone, not used for advertising, not read by any person at Litehouse, and not used to develop or train any AI or machine learning model.
6. How long information is kept
- What Jugaad read stays on your device until you check again, switch the source off, remove the account, or tap "Delete everything".
- Switching a source off or removing an account deletes what was read from it. "Delete everything" erases all of Jugaad's information and the encryption key from your device.
- Litehouse keeps no copy of what Jugaad reads, so there is nothing of that kind for Litehouse to delete. To remove your mobile number from Litehouse, tap "Remove my number" in the Privacy tab, or write to the Grievance Officer.
- Your scheme answers, confirmed numbers and kept photos stay on your device until you change them, switch Schemes off (which deletes them), tap "Delete my schemes data" or tap "Delete everything".
- Jugaad's memory (monthly counts, and bills kept for patterns) is kept for 13 months, then deleted on your device. It is deleted sooner if you tap "Delete my memory", switch Gmail off or tap "Delete everything"; removing an account deletes the bills remembered from it. Rules you made stay until you delete them.
- Trackers you make, with their entries for 13 months, stay on your device until you delete them or tap "Delete everything". Family circle items stay on your device until removed, and markers of removed items for 30 days.
7. Your rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you may:
- See what Jugaad holds about you, on the Privacy tab, and get a copy of everything Jugaad keeps on your device with "Download my data". You can leave mail extracts and medicine entries out of the file. The file is saved on your device without encryption, so anyone who uses that device can open it.
- Withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it, by switching a source off on the Accounts tab.
- Have your information erased: "Delete everything" on your device, and "Remove my number" for what Litehouse keeps.
- Remove Jugaad's access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/connections.
- Nominate another person to exercise these rights for you, and raise a grievance, by writing to us.
8. Who can use Jugaad
Jugaad is offered to people in India and is for people aged 18 or over. Jugaad's screens are in English, Hindi and Hinglish; this notice is available in 23 languages. Jugaad does not knowingly process information about anyone under 18. If we learn that a person under 18 has signed in, we delete the mobile number and records Litehouse holds for that person within 7 days and tell them how to delete what is on their device with "Delete everything". Parents can write to the Grievance Officer to tell us.
9. Security
Phone notifications show only how many reminders you have, unless you choose to show titles. Information on your device is encrypted. Access to Google is read-only, so Jugaad cannot send, change or delete anything in your Google account. Jugaad never asks for a password, OTP or PIN.
10. Questions and complaints
Grievance Officer: Nandini, Litehouse DeepTech Private Limited, [email protected], or by post to the address above. For general questions, write to [email protected]. We reply within 90 days at the latest, as the DPDP Rules require, and aim to reply much sooner. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
11. Changes to this notice
If what Jugaad reads or why changes, the version number above changes and Jugaad asks you to agree again before reading anything.
