Accessibility statement
Jugaad, by Litehouse DeepTech Private Limited, Mumbai. Last reviewed 2 November 2026.
In short. We want everyone to be able to use Jugaad, including people who use a screen reader, larger text or voice, and people who are new to smartphones. We test against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, which the Indian standard IS 17802 follows. Jugaad is not yet fully tested on real phones with a screen reader; the gaps we know about are listed below.
What Jugaad does today
- Every screen is checked automatically against WCAG 2.1 levels A and AA before each release. The checks cover colour contrast, names for every button and field, headings, language marking and the order in which a keyboard or screen reader moves.
- Screens are in English, Hindi and Hinglish. Each screen tells the phone which language it is in, so a screen reader uses the right voice.
- The "Larger text" button at the top of every screen makes all text and buttons larger. Jugaad also follows the text size set on your phone.
- "Read aloud" reads your reminders using a voice on your phone, and "Speak" takes short spoken commands such as "read" or "check". Both work on the phone, without sending your voice anywhere.
- Main buttons are at least 44 pixels high and small buttons at least 30, above the 24 pixel minimum in WCAG 2.2. Nothing depends on colour alone: every warning also has words.
- Jugaad works in light and dark mode and does not use flashing content or sounds that start by themselves.
- Nothing times out while you are reading. The optional app lock asks again only after 2 minutes away from Jugaad.
What we know is not yet right
- Jugaad has been checked with automated tools in a desktop browser, but not yet with a screen reader on real Android phones (TalkBack). That test is planned before Jugaad is offered more widely.
- The Privacy Notice is available in 23 languages, but Jugaad's screens are only in English, Hindi and Hinglish for now.
- "Speak" works only on phones whose browser can recognise speech on the device. Where it cannot, the button is not shown.
- Google's own sign-in screens, which open from Jugaad, are made by Google and follow Google's accessibility.
